Memorial Day ceremonies in the CSRA

AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- There are several Memorial Day events and ceremonies happening Monday.

At 11 a.m. there will be a remembrance ceremony at the American Legion Post 120 off Liberty Street in Waynesboro.

Also at 11a.m. a ceremony hosted by VFW Post 12190 will take place at Memorial Gardens Park behind Evans Towne Center Library. There will be a wreath laying for those lost from each branch of service.

And in North Augusta’s Wade Hampton Park the Aiken County Veterans Council will host a ceremony, also at 11 a.m.

Fleet Feet will host the “Wear Blue: Run to Remember” for their annual Memorial Day 5K! They need your help to create our largest living memorial yet by honoring over 65,000 service members who have given their lives since the Vietnam War through our Hero Match. Meet up is at 8:30 a.m. at Lake Olmstead Trailhead, 1 Milledge Rd in Augusta.

Mayor Garnett Johnson and Congressman Rick Allen will join the chapter of the Military Order of the World for a Memorial Day ceremony.

It will be at the All Wars Monument in Olde Town near downtown Augusta at 11 a.m. Monday morning.

Mayor Johnson, Major General Paul Stanton and Congressman Allen will be speaking.
