Maxwell Street Market returns to original location on Near West Side

CHICAGO — It was a soggy opening day for the Maxwell Street Market on Sunday.

The hours were shortened, due to the round of showers that swept across Chicagoland, but the market will return at the end of June, as it is held on the final Sunday of each month.

Sunday’s event was special as it was the first time in 30 years that the market opened in its original location on Halsted Street, after 15 years in the South Loop.
