Maury County schools to remain closed Monday, district confirms

Maury County Public Schools will remain closed Monday as cleanup continues following Wednesday's tornado, which damaged more than 100 structures, destroyed 40 homes and resulted in one fatality.

MCPS officially made the announcement Friday afternoon, and while all classes will be canceled, other school-related events will occur.

This includes any graduations, after school athletics and performances.

The Boys & Girls Club will also remain open at Mt. Pleasant Elementary and Marvin Wright Elementary schools, as well as the nonprofit's Wayne Street and Teen Center locations.
