Mattoon Fire Department extinguishes abandoned trailer fire

MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — The Mattoon Fire Department put out an overnight fire in an abandoned trailer.

The fire department was dispatched to a structure fire at a mobile home park on Old State Road near I-57 just after midnight on Wednesday. Crews found smoke and flames coming at an abandoned, boarded-up trailer.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in 10 minutes.

No one was in the trailer and no injuries were reported. Firefighters were on scene until around 1:45 a.m.

Coles/Moultrie 911, the Mattoon Police Department, Charleston Fire Department, Ameren Gas, and Coles-Moultrie Electric all assisted in the response to the fire.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
