Massive alligator blocks MacDill Air Force plane, fights with FWC officers

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An alligator caused some trouble after it decided to wander onto the runway at MacDill Air Force Base Monday morning.

In a photo posted by MacDill AFB, the alligator appeared to be relaxing under the wheels of a tanker plane at the base.

Officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission arrived to remove the scaly intruder. However, it didn’t go down without a fight.

Video uploaded to the base’s Facebook page showed two FWC officers wrangle the gator as it thrashed about, but they were able to subdue it.

“Our newest toothy Airman has been relocated to a more suitable environment off base,” the base wrote. “Special thanks to FWC for the assist.”

According to the post, the FWC believed the alligator was pushed out of its home by Elvis, an even larger alligator known to reside in the area.
