Marshfield Clinic, Erice Lake, pausing labor and delivery services due to staffing issues

RICE LAKE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Marshfield Medical Center – Rice Lake says it will temporarily pause labor and delivery services beginning tomorrow (5/1/24) due to staffing shortages. According to a news release from Marshfield Clinic Health System, the pause is expected to last 30 to 60 days. Affected patients will be notified and their labor and delivery care will be transitioned to the Eau Claire hospital. Tours of the birth center in Eau Claire are being offered.

Marshfield Medical Center President of Medical Affairs, Dr. Brandon Parkhurst, says the ripple effect of the HSHS closures is a factor in having to spread its resources.
