HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The Market Street Bridge between Harrisburg and the West Shore will close overnight in the upcoming future.

PennDOT says the work will take place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on May 6 and 7 to allow for a light study.

“We’re doing it late at night because, number one, it’s dark, but number two, because of the reduced traffic volumes we have on the bridge then,” said David Thompson, PennDOT District 8 spokesperson. “But it is a lighting study, so it has to be done at night.”

Traffic will be detoured using the Harvey Taylor Bridge.
