Manhattan kicks off citywide spring cleanup

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – This week the City of Manhattan is helping you with your spring cleaning.

Manhattan is encouraging you to clean up your yard, and it will take care of the rest. It’s part of a city-wide Spring Cleanup. You can bag up leaves, tree limbs and bagged grass clippings in paper bags, set them on your curb and crews will be by to pick up the bags.

The City says there are some items that it won’t accept during the spring cleaning. Crews will not pick up major household appliances, tires, batteries, concrete, construction or demolition debris or other household hazardous waste.

For one Manhattan resident, he appreciates the effort the city is doing to help spruce up the Little Apple.

“It takes a little bit of the responsibility and the pressure off of us trying to figure out, ‘okay, where do we take these leaves to? How do we make sure that they’re taken care of responsibly?’,” Sage Hinkle said.
