Man struck and killed by pickup truck in Hesperia

A man was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing Main Street in Hesperia on Monday night, officials said.

The collision was first reported about 11:20 p.m. at Main Street and Maple Avenue, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department logs.

The pedestrian walked north across Main Street from the southeast corner of the intersection against a red light, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Amanda Paslak said.

"A Toyota traveling west on Main Street with a green light struck the pedestrian," she said. He died at the scene.

Authorities said the driver of the involved pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The identity of the dead man was not available pending positive identification and notification of family by San Bernardino County coroner's officials.
