Man shot, killed in Lumberton home, police say; suspect charged with murder

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WBTW) — A suspect is facing a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a Lumberton man in his home Friday morning, police said.

Bobby Jones, 31, was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Charles Bethea, 27, of Lumberton, according to police. Jones was booked into the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

It happened at about 12:25 a.m. in the 500 block of E. 21st Street, police said. Officers found Bethea inside the home, and he was taken by EMS to UNC Health Southeastern where he died at about 7:20 a.m.
