Man faces murder charge after February shooting in Darlington County, deputies say

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Darlington County deputies on Wednesday arrested a man they say is responsible for a deadly February shooting along Gilchrist Road.

Jamare Lorenzo Nero is facing charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.

Deputies on Valentine’s Day were dispatched to the 400 block of Gilchrist Road and found a vehicle in a ditch that had been struck several times by gunfire.

A female occupant was dead inside, officials said.

No further information was immediately available on Wednesday, and the victim has not yet been identified.
