Man dies in double DUI crash on I-5 involving multiple vehicles: CHP
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a series of collisions on Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego last Saturday.
On Saturday around 10 p.m., a 20-year-old man driving a Honda Civic south on I-5 north of J Street was involved in a “property damage only” crash, California Highway Patrol said in a release Thursday.

They said the driver left his vehicle and was standing in the traffic lanes when he and the Honda were struck by a Ford Escape driven by a 44-year-old man.
The driver of the Honda was thrown into the traffic lanes due to the force of impact, according to authorities. Shortly after, he was struck by a silver Honda Accord driven by a 36-year-old woman.
The Ford Escape was later hit by another vehicle — a black Ford Bronco — driven by a 34-year-old woman, according to authorities.
Authorities said the Honda driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. All lanes of I-5 north of State Route 94 were closed during the subsequent investigation.
The drivers of the Ford Escape and Ford Bronco were found to be driving under the influence and were arrested for various DUI-related charges, according to CHP. They were both booked into San Diego county jails.
CHP is still investigating the cause and sequence of events. The identity of the man who died has not been released pending family notification.
