Man charged with infant’s overdose death

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis judge has signed an arrest warrant for a man in connection with the overdose death of an infant.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the incident occurred on the morning of Nov. 18, 2023, in the 3300 block of Bell Avenue in the Grand Center neighborhood.

Police claim a 6-month-old child was taken to the ER at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and pronounced dead minutes later.

Investigators spoke with the infant’s mother, who said she left her child in the care of Antwaun Robinson, 32, while she went to work. The mother said the child did not have any known medical issues and was not on any medications.

Police claim Robinson admitted to using narcotics the night before the child was found unresponsive at the home.

The coroner’s report said the infant died of acute fentanyl and cocaine intoxication and ruled the death as accidental. Robinson agreed to a urine test at the hospital and tested positive for fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Robinson with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He’ll be jailed without bond.
