Man charged with felony for setting fire to Walgreens trash can

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man faces a felony charge after setting fire to a trash can outside a West Nashville Walgreens.

According to Metro Nashville police, officers were called to the drugstore on Charlotte Avenue late Monday night for a fire set outside the store.

An employee told officers the man, later identified as David Nemecheck, lit the trash can outside the store on fire. Video surveillance showed Nemecheck setting the blaze, according to police.

The fire escaped the trash can and spread onto the outside wall of the store, which was occupied at the time.

Police were able to locate Nemecheck at a nearby Exxon gas station wearing the same clothing observed in the video. He was taken into custody and booked in the Metro Jail on a $50,000 bond for an aggravated arson charge.
