Man charged with attempted murder in stabbing

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — A 46-year-old man is now in jail, accused of stabbing a woman in a “domestic altercation” at a Colfax Drive home on Tuesday morning, according to a news release.

Police responded just before 10:30 a.m. to the home in the 9900 block of Colfax Drive in Columbia Township, according to a news release from Lorain County sheriff’s detective Lt. Joshua Croston.

Mom arrested after girl, 14, found in ’emaciated, skeletal state’

There, they found the suspect, 46-year-old Shawn Poe, being held down by another member of the household. They found the victim, a 42-year-old woman, inside the home.

Township firefighters rendered aid, then she was transported to a nearby hospital with “serious” injuries, reads the release. She was later flown to a Cleveland hospital for additional care. Her current condition is unknown.

Poe was arrested and transported to the county jail, charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, domestic violence and aggravated menacing, according to the release. He’s expected to be arraigned in Elyria Municipal Court.
