Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for most of Tampa Bay area

TAMPA, Fla. - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of the Tampa area until 5 p.m. as multiple cells of rain make their way onshore.

You can expect some downpours and heavy winds, with some lightning on Wednesday with multiple rounds of showers.

Also possible will be scattered large hail and possibly an isolated tornado or two.

There is also potential for some severe weather with the storms, as winds could stretch from 50 to 70 mph.

As the day moves on, the storms should be moving from the northwest down to the south and east.

This front should bring some drier air as well on Thursday, but our regular humidity should return not long after that.

There will be a chance of rain over the weekend, with a 30% chance on Saturday and a 40% chance of rain on Sunday.
