Lindale High School students give back to their community on Good Friday

LINDALE, Texas (KETK) – On Friday, Lindale High School students met for Project SOAR, where students volunteer around the city to give back to their community.

“So, these students all gave up their Good Friday morning, when they’re off from school, to come out and volunteer, and we have about 265 volunteers,” Jennifer King, Lindale ISD sponsor for Chick-fil-A Leader Academy and business teacher, said.

this was put on by a program that 24 high school students are a part of with Lindale ISD and Chick-fil-A’s Leadership Academy.

“[The program’s] purpose is to serve with impact through action… you can only cause an impact if you’re truly getting out there and putting in the work,” Aden Ramsey, Lindale High School senior, said.

This year, students are volunteering at several locations throughout town.

“To help the Journey Center, which is a nonprofit center here in Lindale, which gives back to the community, so by giving back to this group, we’re giving back to more people in the community,” Ramsey said.

By doing good, students hope to spread positivity and show others that small acts can make a big difference.

“So the kids are ripping out shrubs, they’re replanting flowerbeds, they’re setting their porches with rocking chairs, that the kids raised money to be able to purchase,” King said.

The students enjoyed serving their community, while learning life-long skills.

“[The students] become leaders who end up going out and getting all of their fellow friends to come up here on their day off, to serve, has just been… It’s been amazing,” Joshua Johnson, Chick-fil-A franchise owner for the Lindale/North Tyler location, said.
