Celebrate Bat Appreciation Day with the Macon Co. Conservation District

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Did you know that April 17 marks Bat Appreciation Day? To celebrate, the Macon County Conservation District will be hosting a “fang-tastic” presentation on Saturday.

Starting at 7 p.m. at the Rock Springs Nature Center, a naturalist from the “Going Batty” program will give a talk on native bat species, what they do in the winter, and what makes them special. Then, attendees will be able to search for some bats outdoors using a sonar device.

The Rock Springs Conservation Area is located on the southwestern edge of Decatur. To get there from Decatur, travel south on Route 48 and turn west onto Rock Springs Road. You can also go south on Wyckles Road and turn east onto Rock Springs Road.
