Walberg not displaying Christian values

U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg was recorded at a March 25 (Holy Week no less) town hall in Dundee dishing his Gaza stance stating like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, “get it over with.” He also suggested the same for the war in Ukraine and no humanitarian aid to either conflict.

The estimated casualties of the 1945 bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan is about one half of the total population of the two cities. That’s about 24,000 killed per square mile within 0-1,640 feet of the epicenter and 20 killed within 1-2 miles. Cause of death was burns.

In October 2023, Walberg traveled to a prayer event in Uganda supporting their new laws criminalizing the LGBTQ+ community. He went so far as to suggest they not waver in the face of the U.S. Uganda is a country with a history of brutality and human rights failing. According to Human Rights Watch, Uganda has “one of the harshest anti-LGBQT+ laws."

Christianity means “love thy neighbor” and Islam means “peace.”

This is bigotry in Christian disguise.

Don't let big solar usurp local rights

Last November, Gov. Whitmer signed into law PA233, which voided every wind and solar zoning ordinance in the state. Wind, solar and battery energy storage developers can now ignore existing local regulations and go to the politically appointed Michigan Public Service Commission for approval of their large-scale renewable energy projects.

This will have a significant and major impact on Lenawee County.

Over the past 15 years, many Lenawee townships have devoted endless time and money to thoughtful wind and solar zoning. Many times those zoning ordinances went to the ballot box, and in every case township residents voted to support regulations that preserved the rural nature of their communities.

But Whitmer’s new law now renders those votes meaningless, and as a result, multiple solar and wind developers are working across Lenawee County.

We now face potentially 20 square miles of solar development in Riga, Ogden, Deerfield, Ridgeway, Palmyra, Rome, Madison and Raisin townships. And those are only the known projects, additionally the new law places NO limits on how much development can be forced on our townships and county.

Further, DTE and Cordelio Energy are now leasing Lenawee land for wind development. Their agents have told our local farmers that Lenawee can host 300 wind turbines.

Known wind leasing activity is focused on Riga, Ogden and Fairfield Townships. But to hit the 300 turbine count, it is likely that wind will also be pursued in places it was promoted more than a decade ago: Seneca, Palmyra and Hudson Townships.

We are currently passing petitions to place repeal language on the ballot this coming November and allow the people of Michigan a voice. To help in this critical effort, please visit the Citizens for Local Choice website at micitizenschoice.org.

Here's the facts on the energy debate

“Since President Biden took office, he has waged an unprecedented war on American energy” started the latest Tim Walberg email.

“The USA is the largest crude oil producer in the world, pumping out nearly 13 million barrels on average every day in 2023, an all-time record” was also in the news recently. Truth is we’re not only producing more oil than Saudi Arabia, we’re producing more than they’re capable of.

Biden is not “waging war” on American energy. He’s boosting it, without crowing about his achievements. America is the world’s fifth-largest oil exporter and No. 1 in refined oil products. America imports eight million barrels a day for use in our aged refineries designed for heavy crude, while exporting the “sweet oil.” Energy independence doesn’t mean cheap energy, we’re in a global market. Expect to pay $4 or more for gas this summer. Blame the booming economy; if you want $2 gas, it’s easy, throw a recession. Choose your poison.

I’m a 77-year-old Tecumseh Products retiree, I feel the pain of rising prices, but I’m not naive. I remember the COVID-19 worldwide recession and the resulting worldwide inflation after. I don’t blame presidents for either.

Truth is we’re experiencing less inflation and more job growth than the rest of the world. But why do my statements conflict with popular views? You may not have known how strong America’s energy boom is, but Tim Walberg does. I believe Tim Walberg is deliberately deceiving you.

On Jan. 6, 2021, he voted to throw out Michigan’s votes with absolutely no proof of voter fraud. He took an oath before God and man to uphold the Constitution and he betrayed us all. I am a veteran who expects my vote to count. Stand up for freedom and democracy and replace Tim Walberg.
