New legislative maps affect some Douglas County voters

Apr. 17—DOUGLAS COUNTY — Changes in legislative districts adopted by the Wisconsin Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers are reshaping how some Douglas County voters will cast their ballots in the fall election.

Three municipalities in Douglas County will change assembly districts under the newly drawn maps.

Dairyland and Oakland, previously in the 73rd District, will shift to the 74th District, currently represented by Chanz Green, R-Grand View. Hawthorne moves to the 73rd District where Rep. Angie Sapik, R-Lake Nebagamon, has decided not to run for reelection in 2024.

All other municipalities in Douglas County remain in the assembly district they voted in during the 2022 election.

The towns of Amnicon, Brule, Cloverland, Hawthorne, Lakeside, Maple, Parkland and Superior; villages of Lake Nebagamon, Oliver, Poplar and Superior; and the city of Superior in Douglas County are part of the 73rd District, which includes northern portions of Bayfield and Ashland counties.

The towns of Bennett, Dairyland, Gordon, Highland, Oakland, Solon Springs, Summit and Wascott and the village of Solon Springs now make up a portion of the 74th District.
