She was given the Mega Millions tickets for her birthday ahead of the April 12 drawing, and they became the ultimate gift.

“I got up the next day on my birthday and checked the tickets with the Lottery’s app and it told me a claim form was needed. I didn’t understand it at first,” Zipp said. She took the ticket back to BG’s and “The clerk scanned the ticket and told me it was a big winner and to sign the back,” she added.

She won $1 million.

“I went outside and cried,” Zipp said.

A 40-year school bus driver, Zipp said she plans to continue working, for now, but may soon travel the country with an RV.

“We are excited that a local community member will get to enjoy this prize, and it goes to show that winning tickets can show up anywhere, and anyone has a chance to win,” BG’s Value Market Owner Dianne Koval said.

The market will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
