Las Cruces PD seeking applicants for upcoming police academy

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – The Las Cruces Police Department are looking to bring more officers to their ranks. The department is now accepting applications for its upcoming academy, tentatively scheduled for June. LCPD is offering thousands of dollars worth of hiring bonuses for cadets who make a three-year commitment.

The incentives are non-stackable according to LCPD:

• $11,000 for each cadet.

• $15,000 for an associate degree.

• $20,000 for a bachelor’s degree or four years of honorable military service or retirement from the military.

• $25,000 for a bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, criminal justice or criminology.

• $30,000 for a master’s degree in sociology, psychology, criminal justice or criminology.

Also, some recruits who live outside of Las Cruces may be eligible for up to $5,000 in relocation assistance.
