KPD: Man shot in the leg during altercation on East Center Street

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man was shot in the leg during an altercation on East Center Street in Kingsport on Tuesday night, police report.

The Kingsport Police Department (KPD) reported officers responded to a possible shooting in the 2100 block of E. Center Street just after 11 p.m.

Upon arrival, a man was found with a gunshot wound to his upper thigh, the KPD stated.

Crime Watch

The man reportedly told police several unknown men were attempting to purchase a television when an altercation occurred. The man said one of the men shot him in the leg before fleeing the scene, according to the report.

The KPD stated the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

The investigation remains ongoing.
