Jury convicts Ogdensburg man of robbing Family Dollar at knifepoint

May 22—OGDENSBURG — A city resident is facing between eight and 25 years in prison after a jury convicted him of first-degree robbery.

According to St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary M. Pasqua, evidence at trial established that on Sept. 3 at the Family Dollar store in Ogdensburg, Joshua Henderson, 35, forcibly stole $70 while threatening a victim with a switchblade knife.

Henderson is scheduled to be sentenced on July 22. He faces a mandatory minimum of eight years in state prison with a maximum of 25 years.

"This defendant has a history of violent behavior," Pasqua said in a statement. "I'm thankful and appreciative that the jury thoughtfully evaluated all of the evidence in this case. This verdict, and the defendant's eventual sentence to a Department of Corrections facility, will help to ensure the safety of the citizens of our community."

Chief Assistant District Attorney Joshua Haberkornhalm and Assistant District Attorney Sasha Mascarenhas prosecuted the case.

Involved in the investigation were the Ogdensburg Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.
