LOS ANGELES, CA (KSNT) – You don’t need to follow the yellow brick road to find the former home of Hollywood actress Judy Garland.

Located in Los Angeles, California’s Bel Air neighborhood, Garland’s home was recently listed for sale at close to $11.5 million. It was designed by architect Wallace Neff in 1938 on a nearly three-acre estate.

This is a very special home in a very special location,” said Josh Flagg with the real estate company Compass.

Garland starred in the 1939 movie “Wizard of Oz” where she took on the role of Dorothy Gale. The film takes viewers on a magical journey into the land of Oz where Garland’s character meets fantastical creatures and characters like the munchkins, a wicked witch, flying monkeys and more.

While she is known for her role in the Kansas-centered “Wizard of Oz,” Garland also starred in more than 24 other films, according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She enjoyed success in her concert appearances and short-lived TV series. She died of an accidental drug overdose at 47, leaving behind three children. She was posthumously awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Some highlights of the home include well-manicured grounds, a circular gated driveway over a creek, top-of-the-line appliances in the chef’s kitchen and a brick-lined patio, according to Compass. The property is marketed as a rare chance to own a piece of history connected to one of the more well-known faces of early Hollywood.

“While there’s no science that justifies an exact correlation between price when a celebrity lives at a home or has lived at a home, I do feel that it adds value,” Flagg said. “My personal favorite rooms in the house are the kitchen as well as the large formal living room.”

The home is listed as having five bedrooms and six bathrooms along with a half-bathroom. It is located at 1231 Stone Canyon Road. To see the listing online, click here.
