Jamestown Fire Department responds to report of smoke in building

Apr. 26—JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Fire Department on Friday, April 26, responded to a report of smoke in a building on the University of Jamestown campus, according to Lt. Sheldon Mohr.

Four units and 21 firefighters responded to Nierling Hall at 725 Westminster Lane at about 1 p.m. Friday. Mohr said a washing machine malfunctioned and smoke filled the building.

Firefighters checked for fire, and none was found. Firefighters ventilated the building.

Mohr said there was no damage to the building. He said the washing machine was damaged.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on scene for 23 minutes.
