Last month, Land Rover Classic announced that it was selling meticulously restored first-generation Range Rovers for $170,000. Jaguar Classic is joining in with concours-quality Series 1 E-Types. Yours for just $355,000. Oh, and that's the starting price for one of these "Reborn" E-Types.

Jaguar Classic will offer 10 Reborn E-Types initially, though it sounds like the automaker will keep restoring them if there's customer interest. The people at Jaguar Classic will source an E-Type for the customer, and restore it to exact factory specifications.

Jaguar attempts to maintain as many of the original parts as possible, though it will replace rusted structural components and anything that's safety critical. Additionally, customers can opt for some upgrades on their cars including improved cooling, an all-synchromesh gearbox, and brake calipers from the later Series 2 E-Type. We'd say you should opt for all these upgrades, because they address notorious weak points on the original car.

The first E-Type Reborn, pictured above, is a 1965 Fixed Head Coupe equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six and painted in Gunmetal Grey. Jaguar is only restoring Series 1 E-Types for now, so don't bother asking about your weirdo 1973 V12-Powered 2+2.

Is $355,000 a lot for an E-Type? Yes, but is there any company better equipped to restore it than Jaguar itself? Arguably not.
