Investigation launched after alleged social media threat made against East High School: KHSD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern High School District is investigating alleged online threats made against East Bakersfield High School Thursday morning.

According to KHSD public information officer Erin Briscoe, East High officials were notified of a social media post claiming there could be a threat against the school on Thursday.

“Student and staff safety is our priority, and any threats to our schools are taken seriously. The Kern High School District Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating this matter,” KHSD said through a news release.

The district notified families through the district messaging platform before classes began on Thursday.

School officials said extra campus police officers and security personnel will be present on and around campus throughout the day as a safety precaution.
