Inmate serving life for Kansas murder dies in Lansing prison

LANSING, Kan. — The Kansas Department of Corrections is investigating after an inmate died at the Lansing Correctional Facility Monday.

According to KDOC, 44-year-old Robert Edwin Blanchette, was found unresponsive in his cell. Staff and a medical team attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive him.

Blanchette was serving a life sentence for convictions of first-degree murder and kidnapping in Reno County, Kansas.

KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating per protocol.

This is the second death of an inmate at Lansing prison in less than a month.
