Indy man convicted of dealing methamphetamine

Apr. 19—ANDERSON — It took a Madison County jury less than 30 minutes to convict an Indianapolis man for dealing methamphetamine.

A jury in Madison County Circuit Court 4 found Ricky D. Johnson, 47, guilty on three felony counts of dealing methamphetamine.

After the verdict was read, Johnson admitted to being a habitual offender.

Judge David Happe set sentencing for May 21. Johnson faces a possible sentence of 16 to 50 years.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Detective Lee Ann Dwiggins with the Madison County Drug Task Force, a confidential informant purchased methamphetamine three times between January and March 2022.

All three transactions were made after the confidential informant contacted Johnson by cellphone to deliver the drugs in Madison or Marion counties.

The state's case was presented by deputy prosecutors Kady Coulon and Jennifer Haley. The defense attorney was Bryan Williams.
