Indiana man wanted for attempted murder captured in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Drug Task Force arrested an Indiana man, who was wanted for attempted murder, along with many other charges, in Memphis Wednesday.

According to the WTDTF, agents with the 30th judicial district out of Memphis conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on I-40. During the stop, a man was seen laying down in the backseat of the car.

The suspect was identified as Khalid Stamps, who had been on the run since 2022 and was wanted out of Marion County, Indiana, for attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness, and pointing a loaded firearm.

He was taken into custody and is now awaiting extradition back to Indiana.

A woman was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.
