Indiana man charged in connection with Clark Memorial Bridge accident

A man was charged in connection to the multi-vehicle accident that left a tractor trailer hanging from the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge on March 1, according to court documents.

Trevor Branham, 33, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, is being charged with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license in connection to the accident, court records show. A $20,000 bond was partially secured and posted on Friday.

"The above named defendant unlawfully: operated his motor vehicle with a suspended license and drove the vehicle under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, placing himself and other motorists at risk for serious physical injury or death," records say.

Authorities say Branham was driving a Chevrolet truck at an excessive speed and "weaving in and out of traffic" when he struck several vehicles, including the tractor trailer that broke through the guardrail and a Hyundai with two passengers, according to court documents.

The tractor trailer driver, identified in court documents as Sydney Thomas, had to be rescued following the incident. Branham and at least one of the people in the Hyundai were injured.

Branham's preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15 at 9 a.m.
