Highway patrol identifies human remains found in Mercer County

Apr. 25—Human remains discovered Tuesday in Mercer County have been identified as a missing Iowa man, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

At approximately 3:08 p.m. Tuesday, the Mercer County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control with the discovery of human remains. The remains were discovered by a turkey hunter on private property in northeast Mercer County, according to a release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

On Thursday, the remains were identified as Sebastian Tyrese Husted, from Centerville, Iowa. The victim has been reported missing since Jan. 22, 2018, by the Centerville Police Department. He was 18 at the time of his disappearance.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Mercer County Sheriff's Office or the Centerville Police Department.
