High-speed Pennsylvania Turnpike chase ends with crash, arrest

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – Pennsylvania State Police say they were involved in another high-speed chase in the Midstate, at least the third since Friday.

Troopers say on March 25 around 10 a.m. an unmarked vehicle was parked on I-76 in West Pennsboro Township when a Ford Taurus with heavy window tint and an expired registration passed eastbound.

The Trooper pulled over the vehicle and the driver was identified as Moses Jones Jr. of Philadelphia. State Police say during the traffic stop Jones Jr. fled and the Trooper began a pursuit.

During the chase, State Police say speed exceeded 130 MPH in a 70 MPH zone for several miles. The chase ended in a construction zone and State Police later found the Taurus crashed into construction equipment.

Troopers reported seeing Jones Jr. fleeing on foot and say he was apprehended after a foot chase. State Police say Jones reported being on federal probation and he was outside of his allotted area.

Jones is facing charges including fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and was released from Cumberland County Prison on $4,000 bail.

The turnpike chase came hours after another 130 MPH chase in Cumberland County involving State Police and a Mechanicsburg man.

On Friday, a State Trooper suffered a dislocated shoulder after a fleeing vehicle crashed into a patrol car on I-83 in York County.
