Some of the topics covered at the workshop include relevant legislation, permits for street vendors, and options beyond street vending.

Some of the surrounding communities, including Victorville, will also be in attendance to outline local licensing requirements.

Types of street vendors

County officials describe a sidewalk or street vendor as a person who sells food on a public right of way, sidewalk, or other pedestrian paths using a stand, display, showcase, rack, or non-motorized transport such as pedal-driven cart, pushcart, or wagon.

These types of vendors can only sell prepackaged, nonpotential hazardous foods. Preparation of food/drinks is not permittable. These vendors are divided into three categories:

  • A stationary vendor sells food in a fixed location without assistance from a transport.

  • A roaming vendor sells food while moving from place to place by foot or by nonmotorized transport/food cart.

  • Vendors that sell flowers and non-edible items

The vendor workshop is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, in Conference Room D at Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Drive.
