Here's what you should know ahead of Tuesday's primary elections

RICHMOND, Ind. – The 2024 Wayne County primary is Tuesday, May 7.

In addition to national and statewide races for president, governor and U.S. Senate, there are several contested races at the local level.

In-person absentee voting for those who would like to cast their ballots before Tuesday has been available at the voter registration office on the second floor of the courthouse (301 E Main St., Richmond, IN 47374) since April 9 and will continue to remain open until noon on Monday, May 6.

Hours to vote at the office are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday. It will also be open this Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Monday, April 29, four addition in-person absentee voting sites opened and will be available until Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 10 a.m. each day.

Those locations are the First Bank Kulhman Center (861 N. Salisbury Rd) and First English Lutheran Church (2727 East Main St.) in Richmond, the Golay Center (1007 East Main St.) in Cambridge City and New Testament Church of Christ (752 W. Main St.) in Hagerstown.

The Kuhlman Center will also be open this Saturday for early voting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be five voting locations in Richmond on Primary Election Day: First Bank Kuhlman Center, Mt. Olive Baptist Church (1108 N H Street), First English Lutheran Church, First Baptist Church (1601 South A St.) and Lifespring North Church (5600 US Highway 27 North).

Other locations in the county open for voting on Tuesday will be the Golay Center, New Testament Church of Christ and the Centerville Christian Church Family Center (106 E Main St.).

All locations on Tuesday will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Voters will need a government-issued photo ID in order to cast a ballot. No post cards will be required.

Election results will be posted on pal-item.com as soon as they become available Tuesday night.
