UPDATE: Glasgow brush fire fully contained

UPDATE 5:18 P.M. GLASGOW, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Forestry says firefighters have fully contained the brush fire in Rockbridge County.

According to forestry, the fire was contained at 36 acres. Crews are still on the scene to monitor the situation.

Lightning strikes transformer, knocks out power in Danville

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

GLASGOW, Va. (WFXR) — Heavy smoke can be seen hovering in the Glasgow area due to a brush fire that ignited in Rockbridge County on April 30.

Details remain limited; however, the Virginia Department of Forestry says the fire is currently burning near the Natural Bridge Station. Currently, the blaze is about 70 acres and is 30% contained.

The Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department says no homes are currently in danger. The DOF confirmed that fire does not pose a threat to National Forest property.
