Gundersen Health System and Bellin Health announce re-branding

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Gundersen Health System and Bellin Health are announcing a rebranding. The combined health system is changing its name to Emplify Health. This comes after the two health systems finalized their merger of equals in December 2022.

Officials say the hospital names will not change right away, but over the next several years. CEO Scott Rathgaber says Emplify Health is more than a name, “It’s who we are today and how we will deliver care in the future. Our new brand is built from that legacy and the words empathy and amplify. Our purpose is to inspire people’s best lives by relentlessly caring, learning, and innovating.”

Officials say patients of Emplify Health will still receive their care with the same providers and staff at the same locations they were before.

Khosla Ventures and Pear VC have just tripled down on their investment in Honey Homes, which offers up a dedicated handyman to take care of all the random tasks on a homeowner’s to-do list. Era Ventures led the startup’s latest raise, a $9.25 million extension financing that CEO and co-founder Vishwas Prabhakara described as “an up round.” While the company declined to share hard revenue figures, Prabhakara said the company expects to “do the same and get to eight figures in ARR” in 2024.

More money for the generative AI boom: Y Combinator-backed developer infrastructure startup Recall.ai announced Thursday it has raised a $10 million Series A funding round, bringing its total raised to over $12 million. The startup has built infrastructure and a unified API that enables companies to access raw data from virtual meeting platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack Huddles, Zoom and even platforms with no API. With the video and audio data, users can build AI-powered meeting bots or apps such as sales coaching, meeting notetaker or daily standup bots.

EU opens child safety probes of Facebook and Instagram, citing addictive design concerns
Facebook and Instagram are under formal investigation in the European Union over child protection concerns, the Commission announced Thursday. The proceedings follow a raft of requests for information to parent entity Meta since the bloc's online governance regime, the Digital Services Act (DSA), started applying last August. The development could be significant as the formal proceedings unlock additional investigatory powers for EU enforcers, such as the ability to conduct office inspections or apply interim measures.
