Grim named Muncie schools' assistant superintendent

MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie Community schools filled its opening for an assistant superintendent by promoting Eric Grim from his current position as the district’s director of secondary education.

Grim has worked for the school district in a variety of roles for the past 26 years, including five years as the principal of Northside Middle School.

Grim succeeds Chuck Reynolds who will become the school district's new director of public education and CEO once Lee Ann Kwiatkowski, the current CEO, retires at the end of June. Both Grim and Reynolds will begin their new duties July 1.

“We had several great candidates apply for this opening, but Eric really stood out,” Reynolds said in a news release. “He is always all about what’s best for students, and his many years of experience with Muncie schools will serve him well in this new assignment.”

As assistant superintendent, Grim will supervise district directors, oversee school security and "help execute many facets of the MCS strategic plan," the release said. In addition, he will coordinate Ball State student teachers in the district's buildings as well as BSU research projects involving Muncie students, staff and families.

“Muncie Community Schools is full of talented, dedicated educators I’m proud to work with every day,” Grim said in the release. “I’ve known and respected Dr. Reynolds for a long time, so the opportunity to join him to continue the progress we’ve made in recent years is exciting to me and I can’t wait to get started.”
