Goat found locked inside car multiple times was rescued by deputies

DENVER (KDVR) — Deputies with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office rescued a goat that was found locked inside of a cage in a car overnight.

Deputies responded to a call Saturday at around 4 p.m. reporting animal cruelty in the 10200 block of E. Peakview Avenue where they found the goat, Nibbles, “still locked inside the owner’s car, in a cage with no food or water and a window barely cracked open,” the sheriff’s office said.

This wasn’t the first time deputies were concerned for Nibbles.

On March 7 at around 6 a.m., deputies found Nibbles locked inside a cage in the car with no food or water. ACSO said the goat didn’t seem in distress, but deputies were concerned.

The sheriff’s office issued two warnings to the owner, “One, get the animal veterinary care within four days, and two, provide the animal with food and water.”

When deputies found the goat locked inside the car again on Saturday, Nibbles was seized and taken to the Dumb Friends League.

The Dumb Friends League doesn’t usually accept goats, but the sheriff’s office said they took Nibbles given the circumstances.

“The shelter says it will hold onto Nibbles for now and do a complete medical check to make sure the goat is healthy before it finds the proper placement for it,” the sheriff’s office said.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said the owner was issued a summons for animal cruelty, and Nibbles is safe and being cared for.
