Gloucester woman charged in hit-and-run of 14-year-old in court

SMITHFIELD, Va. (WAVY) – A Gloucester woman is in court Monday morning in connection with a Nov. 4 felony hit-and-run involving a 14-year-old boy in Smithfield.

According to officials, 31-year-old Chanice Atkinson was arrested on Nov. 6, two days after the 14-year-old walking a motorbike was hit on Benn’s Church Boulevard.

The boy was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash, having to recover from a long list of injuries.

Isle of Wight Clerk officials told 10 On Your Side that Atkinson’s preliminary hearing started at 11 a.m. on April 22.
