Gas leak at Kansas Humane Society takes out heat

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A gas leak at the Kansas Humane Society has shut off the heat to their building.

A Facebook post from the KHS says because of the gas leak, they can’t do private cremation services or laundry.

“While we investigate the cause of the damages and await the total price to fix and turn the gas back on, we need to get dogs out of the shelter,” KHS’s Facebook post reads.

The KHS is offering all dogs except “high-profile dogs” for only $50. All adult cats are remaining “pick-your-price.”

“We just want to help our animals as best we can. Right now, the best way we can help them is getting them out of the shelter as soon as possible,” Kansas Humane Society director of Communications Jordan Bani-Younes said.

If you would like to donate to KHS to help fund the repairs for the damages, you can click here. KHS said they are also in need of space heaters and air purifiers.
