Funeral arrangements made for Zachary High student killed in New Roads shooting
NEW ROADS, La. (BRPROUD) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for the Zachary High School student who was killed in a shooting in New Roads.
Jonathan Johnson, 16, was shot around 3 a.m. on Carver Drive near Wilkins Street. Johnson was taken to a hospital where he later died.
New Roads Mayor Theron Smith said Johnson was his grandson by marriage. According to Smith, Johnson played on the freshman football team at Zachary High School.
A. Hamilton Platinum Funeral Service announced that a visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church in New Roads. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m.
