Friends of Lebanon Cemetery looking for descendants of deceased veterans

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) — The Friends of Lebanon Cemetery, a historically Black cemetery in North York, is asking the public for help in finding the descendants of several deceased veterans.

The cemetery remembers and honors early African American community members of York County. It is also the final resting place for more than 300 veterans.

Currently, the cemetery is looking for the descendants of the following individuals, for whom new military headstones are being installed.

  • James K. Hopkins (1926 -1961)

  • John W. Bonaparte (1922 -1970)

  • Ernest Milton (1927-1978)

  • Ralph E. Cohen (1895-1978)

  • John F. Noble (1832-1902)

The cemetery is inviting the veterans’ family members to a dedicated ceremony on April 13th.
