Friday night fire destroys garage in Buckley

BUCKLEY, Ill. (WCIA) — A garage full of items was destroyed in a fire on Friday night, the Buckley Fire Protection District said.

Around 7:30 p.m., the department arrived at a residence in the area of West Main and 3rd Streets. Fire crews found a detached garage on fire. The Loda Fire Protection District was called in to help. The Onarga Fire Protection District covered the Buckley district in the meantime.

The fire was eventually put out, but the garage and its contents were considered a total loss. Siding on the home was also melted, as well as the siding on a neighbor’s home.

No one was home at the time and no one was hurt, Buckley Fire Chief Tyler Ecker said.

Ecker added that the cause of the fire is undetermined, but it is not believed to be malicious or suspicious.
