Franklin County bomb threat suspect arrested, brother wanted

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Two Chambersburg brothers are facing charges after a bomb threat closed the Franklin County Courthouse complex on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Chambersburg Police Department, Chadwin Rodgers, 34, was arrested Thursday morning, April 11, and is currently incarcerated in Franklin County Jail. He is charged with felony conspiracy of terroristic threats and conspiracy of criminal use of a communication facility.

According to court records, Chadwin Rogers was scheduled to be formally arraigned at the Franklin County Courthouse on DUI and related charges on Wednesday at 1 p.m., around the same time the threat came in.

Jason Rodgers, identified by police as Chadwin’s brother, also has an active arrest warrant associated with the incident. He is also facing two felony charges including terroristic threats and criminal use of a communication facility.

Chambersburg Police say they responded to the courthouse complex at 14 N Main St shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday alongside Pennsylvania State Police to assist the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with the threat.

Police say the courthouse received a call from an unknown person claiming that an explosive device was going to detonate inside.

In response, the courthouse and surrounding area were evacuated and area roads were closed.

The facility was searched and cleared by K9 teams and police say there is no ongoing risk to the public.
