LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – Fort Indiantown Gap has received $1.55 million from federal appropriations legislation to construct a machine gun range.

According to U.S. Congressman Dan Meuser, the range will have 10 multi-purpose lanes that’ll allow members to train and “hone crucial skills” at the base.

“The construction of a multi-purpose machine gun range at The Gap will help ensure the brave men and women of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard are well-equipped to respond to any situation they may face,” said Meuser. “These funds will allow Fort Indiantown Gap to continue providing top-notch training to Guard personnel and meet all range training standards. This federal Community Funding Project will enhance the readiness of the Pennsylvania National Guard, which reinforces our national security.”

Fort Indiantown Gap hosted training for over 110,000 troops last year, including international service members. It is consistently ranked one of the busiest military training centers in the country.
