Former Lawrence County football league president arrested on rape charges

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A former youth football league president in Lawrence County has turned himself in on statutory rape charges.

The Loretto Police Department initially reported 43-year-old Jason William Cromwell was last seen on Wednesday, April 24. He has since been arrested.

Cromwell is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl from Kentucky on Sunday, April 21. Investigators worked for three days with help from the District Attorney’s Office and the Kentucky State Police.

Cromwell was indicted on Wednesday for aggravated statutory rape by the Lawrence County grand jury. He has been removed from his position as the president of the Loretto Youth Football, according to Loretto police.
