Former Lake Wylie gift shop reopens in new York County home, eager to embrace community

The Coastal Cottage gift shop that used to be in Lake Wylie has now re-opened in downtown Clover.

The store originally opened in September 2016 on Charlotte Highway but was forced to close in December due to a rent increase on the property, store owner Lana Blankenship said.

Blankenship, a West Virginia native, moved to Clover in 2010 because of the school district for her daughter. Blankenship has always supported businesses in the Clover area, and said the opportunity to open her business there “came at the right time.

“I said whenever I left Lake Wylie, I’ll do what is meant to happen,” Blankenship said. “This just came up unexpectedly, and we moved in. And we love it. We love being a part of Clover.

“Also, Clover is building. It’s growing,” she added. “It was a sleepy town for a long time, and now, all of a sudden, businesses are moving in. We really want to be a part of that revitalization of Clover.”

About The Coastal Cottage

The Coastal Cottage is a home decor and quick gift shop and designed with last-minute gifting in mind, from birthdays to anniversaries and other parties.

Blankenship said she hand-picks every item in the store and aims to cater to a wide range of interests. Most of the products in the store come from other small businesses in South Carolina.

Blankenship wants Coastal Cottage to be more than just another business in Clover.
