SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of the Forbes Media business news outlet, will give a special guest presentation at Angelo State University this week.

Sponsored by the Texas Tech University Free Market Institute at Angelo State University, Forbes’ presentation will take place in the Houston Harte University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center on Wednesday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Forbes’ presentation, titled “The Importance of Freedom and Free Enterprise in America,” will see him discuss “how freedom and the free enterprise system have enriched the U.S. and what steps are necessary to ensure the nation’s future prosperity,” according to ASU.

He will also host a book signing from 4:30-5:30 p.m. immediately following his presentation. Copies of his books will be available on-site, including the following:

  • “Inflation: What It Is, Why It’s Bad, and How to Fix It” (2022)

  • “How Capitalism Will Save Us: Why Free People and Free Markets Are the Best Answer in Today’s Economy” (2011)

A widely respected economic prognosticator, Forbes writes editorials for each issue of Forbes magazine under the heading “Fact and Comment.” He is the only writer to have won the highly prestigious Crystal Owl Award four times for the accuracy of his economic forecasts.

Forbes’ experience extends beyond economic insights, however. In his popular webcast, “What’s Ahead,” Forbes gives analyses of events and engages the world’s leading newsmakers, politicians and pioneers in business and economics in captivating conversations.

Forbes also helped create the award-winning documentary titled “In Money We Trust?” which was inspired by his book, “Money: How the Destruction of the Dollar Threatens the Global Economy – and What We Can Do About It.” He also recently launched a series on the educational website Izzit.org that presents inspirational stories and lessons from history’s greatest innovators — many largely forgotten — whose achievements have shaped modern life.

Forbes also campaigned for the Republication nomination for the presidency in 1996 and 2000. He built a platform based on flat tax, medical savings accounts, a stable dollar, a new social system for working Americans, parental choice of schools for their children, term limits and a strong national defense during both of these campaigns.
